2019 Thanksgiving Holiday Travel

Millions will hit our nation's roads on Thanksgiving weekend, eager to spend time with family and friends. Thanksgiving weekend is one of the busiest times to travel during the year.  More people on the roads means a great chance of vehicle crashes.

  • In 2017, Thanksgiving weekend, 365 people were killed in passenger vehicles across the nation.
  • Nighttime is deadlier than daytime in terms of seat belt use. Over the 2017 Thanksgiving weekend, 57% of passenger vehicle occupants killed in crashes at night were unbuckled, compared to 40% during the day.
