SESSIONS INCLUDE

WORKING TOGETHER: FEDERAL, STATE, LOCAL LEVELS

            This session will address interagency operations and how the agents work towards a common goal.

PERDUE’S JOURNEY FOR SAFETY EXCELLENCE

            Perdue Farms, of Accomack County, implemented cutting-edge technology into its large commercial fleet
            vehicles to minimize crash risks and maximize driver safety.  Perdue Farms received the 2017 
            Governor’s Safety Award for Motor Carrier Safety. 

COMMERCIAL VEHICLE CRASH RECONSTRUCTION

            This session will address causes of crashes and ways to reduce crashes.  Discussion topics include 
            computing speed, indicators of seat belt use, identifying and measuring evidence, and measuring the
            scene.

COMMERCIAL MOTOR VEHICLE INSPECTION

            This session will address motor carrier inspections: trends in the industry, leading violations, what is 
            involved in a roadside inspection.

VIRGINIA STATE POLICE’S PLAN FOR THE FUTURE IN TRANSPORTATION SAFETY

            This session will address the Virginia State Police’s role in Traffic Incident Management.

THE INS AND OUTS OF SCHOOL BUS SAFETY

            This session will cover school bus safety as it relates to bus design and yellow school bus elements.

HOMELAND SAFETY / SECURITY AND THE TRUCKING INDUSTRY

            This session will address general security awareness training elements within the trucking industry.  The
            presentation covers pre-check and post-check inspections, as well as locating and identifying suspicious 
            items.

DMV AND LEGISLATIVE ISSUES INVOLVING THE MOTOR CARRIER INDUSTRY

            This session addresses DMV and Legislative Issues involving the Motor Carrier Industry.  Mr. Davis will 
           answer questions on legislative issues as well as other initiatives that impact the entire motor carrier 
           community.              

HUMAN TRAFFICKING AND HOW IT INVOLVES THE TRUCKING INDUSTRY

            Despite its global reach, human trafficking is a crime that's in every community.  Many aspects such as 
            the tourism industry, the transient population, and the major highways and seaports make the area 
            more susceptible.  Learn what the Hampton Roads Task force is doing and how the trucking industry 
            can help put a stop to this crime.
