26th Annual Commercial Motor Vehicles “DRIVER APPRECIATION DAY”

Remember to Buckle up for Safety this Holiday Season!

Hampton Roads, VA (December 9, 2019) – Monday, December 16, 2019, from 8-10 am, Drive Safe Hampton Roads’ Specialized Transportation Safety Committee will be working with the Virginia Beach Police Department Motor Carrier Safety Unit and other local motor carrier units to conduct the Annual Commercial Motor Vehicle Driver Appreciation Day. DSHR has organized DAD for 26 years. Additional partners include Walmart #5253, AAA Tidewater Virginia, C.W. Scott Trucking Co., Chick-fil-A @ Salem Crossing & Parkway Plaza, Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles Highway Safety Office, Capital Concrete, Inc., Hampton Roads Transportation Planning Commission, Drive Smart Virginia, Pepsico Beverage Company, Spivey Rentals, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, and the City of Virginia Beach Public Utilities.

This event is held during the busy holiday season to promote highway safety. Drive Safe Hampton Roads and other Hampton Roads’ law enforcement motor carrier teams come together to distribute educational materials and to remind drivers to buckle up during an “alternate type” of roadway safety regulation stop. This event is held on Interstate 264 eastbound near South Independence Blvd. at the old Toll Plaza. Commercial Drivers are encouraged to drive through to receive food and safe driving reminders. This event runs from 8-10 am.
