Designated Driver Booth

Every year, the Chesapeake Jubilee offers a Designated Driver/Traffic Safety Booth, manned by volunteers from Drive Safe Hampton Roads.  Free sodas, giveaways, and educational materials are provided to festival attendees.  There are child safety seat technicians available to answer questions and materials available on bike safety, impaired driving prevention, and occupant protection.

The deal is pretty simple.  You sign a pledge agreeing to be your group’s Designated Driver, get your hand stamped NO, and agree to not buy (or drink) beer or any other alcoholic beverage at the Jubilee, and Drive Safe HR gives you a ticket for a couple of free sodas or water bottles from the Designated Driver tent.

Every 15 Minutes

Every 15 Minutes is a two-day program focusing on high school juniors and seniors, which challenges them to think about drinking, driving, personal safety, and the responsibility of making mature decisions.  Along with alcohol-related crashes, it focuses on the impact that their decisions would have on family and friends.

Intoxiclock®

Most people know that .08 B.A.C. is the legal limit for impaired driving.  Unfortunately, many people don’t understand how drinking various amounts and types of alcoholic beverages affects their Blood Alcohol Concentration (B.A.C.) or how long it takes their body to metabolize the alcohol after it has been consumed.  Intoxiclock® is a tool that provides this information in a real-time and easy to understand format.  To start, Intoxiclock® lets you input the gender and weight for up to two people at a time.  After entering this information about each individual, Intoxiclock® lets you enter the amount of alcohol in a consumed drink, how quickly the drink is consumed in 1 second, 15 minute, or 30 minute increments, and also has the ability to add additional drinks consumed over time.  Once entered, this information is rendered into easy to understand displays and graphs giving a personalized experience of their B.A.C. level and how long it would take their body to return to a B.A.C. of 0.00.
