About Us

Drive Safe Hampton Roads (DSHR) is a Virginia based regional coalition whose mission is to improve roadway safety and reduce death and injury from vehicle crashes using initiatives that include educational programs, information sharing, and partnerships with public and private sector organizations. This organization is made up of individuals from law enforcement, corporate safety, the military, state agencies, safety advocates, fire safety personnel, city and county municipalities, commercial transportation carriers, and individuals with an interest in preventing, injuries, and fatalities on our roadways.  Drive Safe Hampton Roads now reaches the far corners of both the Peninsula and the Southside, including James City County, Williamsburg, Newport News, Hampton, Isle of Wight, Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Suffolk, Portsmouth, Smithfield, area Military bases, York, Poquoson, Gloucester County, and the Eastern Shore with Accomack County and Northampton County.

For over 35 years, Drive Safe Hampton Roads has been recognized as a leader in the field of transportation safety and serves as a resource for information and support at the local, state, and national level.

Drive Safe Hampton Roads meets quarterly to provide the latest in transportation safety information to its members.  The various committees meet for planning sessions and informational discussions on current programs, safety issues, and future projects to educate the public on hot topic traffic safety issues.  Drive Safe Hampton Roads is a 501(c)(3) tax deductible nonprofit organization.
