757 Sober Ride operates on Super Bowl Sunday, St. Patrick’s Day, Cinco De Mayo, Memorial Day, the 4th of July holiday, Halloween, Blackout Wednesday (the Wednesday before Thanksgiving), and New Year’s Eve. 757 Sober Ride has expanded to include all cities in the Southside and Peninsula Hampton Roads area. The program is patterned after the award-winning SoberRide® program conducted by the non-profit Washington Regional Alcohol Program (WRAP).

“It is critical that anyone heading out to a bar or party take precaution and plan for a sober driver to see them home safely,” said Jonathan Turner, 757 Sober Ride Chairperson. “Unfortunately, the Thanksgiving Eve celebration has become a particularly dangerous night on the roads. We want drivers to take this night seriously. Driving drunk is deadly, and no one should ever take that risk.”  The program is patterned after the highly successful, award-winning SoberRide® program conducted by the non-profit Washington Regional Alcohol Program (WRAP).

Financial support of Drive Safe Hampton Roads’ 757 Sober Ride campaign comes from Christopher King Foundation and the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles grants.
