Commercial Motor Vehicle Driver Appreciation Day is an event that brings Drive Safe Hampton Roads and Hampton Roads’ law enforcement motor carrier teams together to distribute goodies during an “alternate type” of roadway safety regulation stop. These events are held at the beginning of the busy winter and summer season to promote highway safety.
Drive Safe Hampton Roads’ (DSHR) Specialized Transportation Safety Committee work with the federal, state, and local police motor carrier units and inspectors to conduct this annual event. Current partners include the Virginia State Police, Virginia Department of Transportation, Capital Concrete, AAA Tidewater Virginia, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, DRIVE SMART Virginia, and the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles.
